Every system in Journey with its real numbers. Every $Journey amount is the value at launch. Amounts can be tuned and scale with the rebase ladder; changes are announced in game first.

Overview

Journey is an isometric voxel MMORPG you play in the browser on a phone or a desktop. You arrive as a Wanderer in the world of Everwend, where the First Path that once joined every land was broken. You gather, fight, craft, trade, take on bosses and follow the story through six realms.

The in game currency is the real token $Journey on Solana (1,000,000,000 supply, 6 decimals). You can play free forever as a guest. Holding 10,000 $Journey in a linked wallet unlocks everything.

  • The server decides every roll, drop, balance and move. The game client only sends what you want to do.
  • The world runs on a 400 ms game tick. Walking takes 260 ms per tile.
  • Each realm runs channels of up to 150 players.
  • Days and nights follow a 60 minute cycle: 45 minutes of day and 15 of night. At night mobs deal +10% damage and material drops are +15%.

Guests and holders

Linking a wallet is one signed message. The game then reads your balance. 10,000 $Journey or more makes you a holder. Holding it for 24 hours in a row makes you trusted, which is needed for anything that moves value out: listing on the Market Hall, direct trades, guild bank deposits, wagers, filling player bounties and withdrawals.

Skills and XP

Eight skills, levels 1 to 60: Melee, Archery, Magic (combat), Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing (gathering), Crafting and Cooking (production). Combat Level is the highest of Melee, Archery and Magic. Total Level is the sum of all eight, up to 480.

Extra XP comes from quests (you choose the skill), XP Lamps, Rested XP (+50%), the party Fellowship bonus and a guild bonus of up to +5%.

Gathering

  • One attempt every 5 ticks (2.0 s), repeating on its own.
  • Success chance = 45% + 2% per level above the node's requirement + 4% per tool tier above T1, capped at 90%.
  • Node requirement by tier: T1 level 1, T2 10, T3 20, T4 30, T5 40, T6 50.
  • XP per success: T1 10, T2 22, T3 40, T4 65, T5 100, T6 150.
  • Trees give 3 to 8 logs and regrow in about 20 s (T1) to 60 s (T6). Ore rocks give 1 to 3 ores and return in about 10 s (T1) to 40 s (T6). Crystal clusters give 1 crystal and return in about 60 s. Fishing spots run out after 12 to 24 catches and return about 20 s later.
  • Bountiful: 5% double yield (+3% with T5 tools, +6% with T6 tools).
  • Sparkle: 1 in 25 actions. Tap within 1.5 s (plus 0.02 s per level) for a rare table roll at 5 times the odds. Missing a Sparkle costs nothing. Fish show a Big Bite with a Reel button instead; a missed Big Bite loses that cast.
  • Rare finds: Geode (mining, 1 in 120), Bird Nest (woodcutting, 1 in 150), Sunken Coffer (fishing, 1 in 180). They open into crystals, jewelry (1 in 12), dyes, Tempering Dust or a rare cosmetic (2%).
  • Herbs: 8% of woodcutting successes, 4% of other gathering.
  • Skilling pets: 1 in 12,000 successful actions (1 in 8,000 on T5 and T6 nodes): Barkling, Nuglet, Gillby.

Combat

Tap a target and your character attacks on its weapon speed until the target falls or you move. All combat resolves on the 400 ms tick.

  • Special energy: 100 max, regains 5 every 6 s (full in 2 minutes).
  • Eating takes 3 ticks and delays your next attack by 2 ticks. Fish heal T1 12, T2 22, T3 35, T4 50, T5 70, T6 95 HP. Meat heals 70% of the same tier fish.

Mob baseline

Mob HP = 10 + 4 × Level^1.2 Mob max hit = floor(3 + 0.8 × Level) Mob speed = 2.4 s unless noted Elite = HP × 3, damage × 1.3, 8% gear drop XP per kill = 1.2 × mob HP, split by damage share

At most 2 mobs chase one player. A mob that chases for 60 s takes a 20 s breather, gives up 12 tiles from where the chase began, and heals to full after 30 s without being hit.

Fame is your account level, from achievements (1 to 10 each), Codex pages (5), story quests (3), boss first kills (5) and world boss Gold (1). 20 ranks: 1 Newcomer, 4 Familiar Face, 8 Local Hero, 12 Famed, 16 Storied, 20 Fabled. Perks are quality of life only: +2 bag slots at ranks 2, 4, 6 and 8, +24 bank slots at ranks 3, 7, 11 and 15, +1 daily quest reroll at rank 5, a shorter Homeward Charm cooldown every 4 ranks, a new nameplate frame every 2 ranks and a second hotbar row at rank 10.

Codex: 412 slots on 20 pages covering items, fish, mobs, bosses, pets, cosmetics and hidden places. A full page gives 5 Fame plus a dye or a useful item (Ward Scroll, Fortune Oil, Tempering Dust, XP Lamps or Pet Treats). The Archivist title comes from the 15 page achievement.

A 30 day streak earns the Faithful cape. Missing a day resets to day 1. Holders get one streak Lantern a week that covers a missed day.

Rested XP: every 4 hours offline fills 1 hour of +50% XP, up to 3 hours.

Wishing Well: 1 free toss every 24 hours after the tutorial; paid tosses cost 150 at launch, up to 10 a day. Table: tier materials 40%, food and potions 20%, Tempering Dust 12%, Wanderer's Cache 8%, dye 6%, Fortune Oil 5%, Ward Scroll 4%, $Journey pouch 3%, Epic gear cache 1.5%, Wishling pet 0.4%, Legendary cache 0.1%.

Leaderboards

In game and on the leaderboards page. Periods: daily, weekly (Monday reset) and all time. Ranked rating, Codex, +10 items, upgrade streak, guild level, referrals, login streak and Fame are all time only; guild XP is weekly and all time. Players can hide their name; hidden players still rank as Hidden.

Boards: Total Level and each skill by XP, mobs defeated, boss kills, world boss damage, ranked rating, Brokenway kills, wager wins, bounties completed, community bounty contribution, Codex completion, +10 items, upgrade streak, fish caught, Legendary drops, guild level and weekly guild XP, referrals, login streak, Fame and $Journey earned.

Weekly boards that pay at launch, from the pvp lane's weekly pot (60% of that lane's weekly budget): ranked rating 40%, world boss damage 20%, the 8 skill XP boards 30%, weekly guild XP 10%. On each board 1st gets 2 × R5, 2nd and 3rd R5, 4th to 10th a quarter of R5. Each group pays at most its share of the pot, so placements shrink when the pot is small. The 30% skill share is split across the 8 skill boards. Ranked pays on current rating. Guild XP rewards are divided among the guild's members. Raw mob kill counts never pay.

Referrals

Share your link or code. The new player gets a Starter Cache. You earn milestone rewards when they finish the tutorial and reach level 10 in any skill: 1 invite a trail, 3 the Pathmaker title, 10 a pet, 25 a mount skin. If they become a holder and stay trusted for 7 days, you also receive 10% of their chosen spending for 60 days, paid Locked from the treasury share.

Parties

  • Up to 5 players. Near a boss a Join nearby party button appears.
  • Fellowship XP: each member within 16 tiles gets +5% XP per other member in range, up to +20%.
  • Personal loot for everyone eligible.
  • Downed: at 0 HP a party member crawls for 12 s. An ally taps them for 3 s to revive at 30% HP. No revives in the Brokenway.
  • Holders can teleport to a party member or a friend every 5 minutes, but not into the Brokenway Core.

Guilds

  • Holders create a guild for 20,000 at launch: a name (3 to 20 characters), a tag (2 to 4) and an emblem (12 icons, 8 colors).
  • Ranks: Leader, Officer, Veteran, Member, Recruit. Guests can join as Recruits.
  • Size: 30 at level 1, +5 per level, 75 at level 10.
  • Guild XP: 1 point per 100 skill XP earned by members, plus guild quests.
  • Perks: L2 bank tab 2, L3 +1% XP (up to +5% at L10), L4 cape glow, L5 bank tab 3, L6 guild recall once a day, L8 bank tab 4, L10 a guild title and a banner in Wayhearth.
  • Guild bank: 48 slots per tab. Trusted holder members deposit tradeable items (items only, no $Journey). Withdrawals are limited per rank per day. Every move is logged.

Chat and friends

  • Channels: Local (speech bubbles, 15 tiles), Realm and World (holders type, guests use Quick chat; World opens after the tutorial), Trade (holders), Party, Guild and Whisper (guests: friends only).
  • Quick chat: 24 preset phrases, safe for everyone.
  • Messages up to 200 characters; Local 1 per 2 s, World 1 per 10 s. 5 identical messages mute you for 5 minutes.
  • Up to 200 friends with online status and realm.
  • 8 emotes: wave, cheer, dance, sit, bow, laugh, cry and flex, plus 4 to unlock.
  • Mute, block and report are on every player's menu.

Even wager rules give both players a level 40, T4 +5 kit of their chosen style. Open rules use your own gear. Wager stakes start at 50 and the maximum depends on your Renown tier.

  • The Rim of the Brokenway only allows attacks within 10 combat levels. The Core has no bracket and no Homeward Charm.
  • Tombstones: killed by a player, the victim and the killer (the player who landed the killing blow, or the top damage dealer of the last 10 s if the blow was not from a player) get 30 s of access, then it is public for 2 minutes, then it crumbles. Killed by a mob, or before you have held 10,000 for 24 hours, it is yours for 10 minutes; after that Gravekeeper Mott holds it for 24 hours (200 per item class at launch).
  • Marked: attacking someone in the Brokenway who did not attack you first marks you for 10 minutes. Marked players keep 0 items and cannot use coffers in the Brokenway or Kilnspire until the Mark fades. 3 kills while Marked posts an NPC Wanted bounty on you.
  • Arriving through a gate gives 10 s of immunity until you act. After PvP damage you stay in the world for 10 s if you close the tab.
  • Guildmates and party members cannot hurt each other in the Brokenway or Kilnspire.
  • Kilnspire flags toggle in camp only, with a 10 s delay.

How rewards work

The game never mints $Journey. Every reward comes from a funded Rewards Pool of 50,000,000 $Journey (5% of supply) at launch, with a 20,000,000 Top Up Reserve held back.

  • Daily budget = 1.0% of the current pool × a governor between 0.5 and 1.2 that follows how much players spent back into the game over the last 7 days. Each day the pool pays a share of what is left, and a share of every fee flows back into it.
  • Reward points: gameplay earns points in six lanes. Each lane owns a slice of the daily budget and pays at a live World Rate: tokens per point, at most 1.25, moving at most 20% per hour. More players or bots in a lane lower its rate; they never raise the total paid.
  • Rewards land Locked and ripen for 7 days.

Tokens paid = points × that lane's World Rate. Weekly leaderboard placements are the exception: they pay R5 as tokens directly, scaled down when the weekly pot is smaller. Elite bounties pay one band higher. Other point values at launch: a gathering success 0.1 × node tier, a Sparkle or Big Bite catch 2 × node tier, a rare find 5 × node tier, a Provisioner delivery 1.5 × the item's reference value per unit, a ranked win 30 × (opponent rating / your rating, between 0.5 and 1.5) with at most 3 credited wins per opponent per day, a Starfall chunk 50, a Golden Hour Big Bite 20.

Never points: raw mob kills, crafting, salvage and the tutorial. NPCs do not buy items; Provisioner orders are the exception.

Renown and daily caps

Renown counts your lifetime chosen spending: NPC shop purchases (consumables included), crafting station fees, upgrades, cosmetics, dyes, name changes, Wishing Well tosses, guild fees, storage, travel and wager rake. Repairs, Gravekeeper reclaims and Market Hall, trade, bounty and withdrawal fees do not count. Your Renown tier sets your daily point cap across all lanes.

  • Diminishing returns: points above 60% of your daily cap count at 50%.
  • Fatigue: after 8 hours of earning in 24 hours points count at 50%; after 12 hours, 0. Items and XP keep coming.
  • Trust: a trust score from 0 to 100 multiplies points: 80 to 100 × 1.0, 60 to 79 × 0.85, 40 to 59 × 0.6, 20 to 39 × 0.3, under 20 × 0.

Free players

Guests and linked accounts under 10,000 earn from the same events into a Locked purse, paid from a 10% slice of the daily budget. Caps at launch: 500 points and $3 a day, and 5,000 in the purse. The purse spends on anything the game sells and on the Market Hall. Purse tokens paid to another player stay Locked for them for 21 days. It cannot be withdrawn, traded directly or wagered.

Once the account is trusted and 7 days old, the purse ripens for 7 days and then vests evenly over 14 days. Purses of guests who never linked expire after 14 idle days. Linked accounts idle for 30 days lose all Locked tokens, ripening pool rewards included. Expired tokens return to the pool.

Burns: the burned share is collected and burned on chain once a day from the game's hot wallet. Each burn signature is published. The treasury share is swept weekly with a logged transfer. The game keeps an hourly check that its wallets always hold at least every balance it owes; if the check ever fails, withdrawals pause.

Mastery capes, titles, auras, nameplate frames and the Holder's Mantle are earned only. Nothing for sale changes combat stats, reward points or the World Rate.

Market Hall and trade

  • Fixed price listings for 48 hours. Everyone can browse and buy; trusted holders list and sell.
  • Daily new listings and wager stakes grow with your Renown tier. Active listings are capped at twice your daily new listings.
  • Each item shows its last 20 sales and, once it has 20 sales in 7 days, its 7 day median price. Listing under 50% of that price (the reference value before then) or over 5 times it asks you to confirm.
  • Direct trade (both players trusted): both sides add items and $Journey, then two confirm steps. Adding $Journey also needs accounts at least 3 days old. A warning shows when one side is worth 10 times the other.
  • Accounts on the same network and the same device cannot trade with each other or buy each other's listings.

  • 1 community bounty per realm per day. Everyone who gives 1% of the average contribution is rewarded; the top 10 get a title for the day.
  • 1 Grand Bounty per holder per day.
  • Rerolls: 1 a day for guests, 3 for holders.
  • Player item bounties: holders post a reward for items, held in escrow, and pay the 5% fee on top when posting (not refunded). Trusted holders deliver; items go to your inbox and the reward to them. Partial fills are allowed for stackables.

Wallet and holder gate

  • Linking is a Sign In With Solana text message bound to this site's domain with a single use nonce. It is never a transaction and costs nothing.
  • Your holding = every token account of your wallet for the $Journey mint + your withdrawable and escrow in game balance + any withdrawal on its way. Locked tokens do not count.
  • The balance is read at sign in, every 10 minutes while online, and fresh before listing, selling, adding $Journey to a trade, filling a player bounty and withdrawing. An error reading the chain is never treated as zero.
  • Holder: 10,000 or more. Trusted: holder continuously for 24 hours. A new wallet always waits the full 24 hours.
  • One wallet per account and one account per wallet. A wallet can move to another character once every 30 days, and moving it freezes withdrawals for 7 days.

Deposits

Depositing is optional and the only transaction you ever sign. It is a plain token transfer from your wallet to the game's treasury, with your wallet as the only signer: no approvals, no second signer. In Phantom the transaction holds that one transfer and nothing else; wallets that do not set their own network fee also get a standard fee setting. The game checks your balance before the wallet opens and simulates the transfer first.

  • Minimum 100 at launch, no fee.
  • Credited when the transfer is finalized; it can be withdrawn after 24 hours.
  • On phones, deposit from inside your wallet's browser.

Withdrawals

The game's server sends withdrawals to your linked wallet. You sign one message (never a transaction) if you have not signed in within 12 hours, and you need no SOL.

Rebase ladder

So in game prices stay sensible as the token's value moves, every gameplay amount (prices, fees, repair costs, point caps, bands, Renown thresholds and token withdrawal caps) is multiplied by k, set by the 7 day median market cap. The 10,000 gate and the USD ceilings never change.

7 day median market capk
Under $3M1
$3M to $10M0.5
$10M to $40M0.25
Over $40M0.1

A step needs the median 20% past the threshold and is announced 48 hours ahead. Every amount on this page is quoted at k = 1.

Fair play

  • The server checks every move, roll, item and balance change. Connections, sign in and chain requests are limited per network; in game actions per account.
  • Bot patterns (metronome timing, ignored Sparkles, sessions of 12 hours or more) lower a trust score that quietly reduces rewards and holds withdrawals for review.
  • Guests cannot sell, trade, wager or withdraw. Purse tokens spent on the Market Hall reach the seller Locked for 21 days, so a guest farm produces nothing that can leave the game quickly.
  • Pool rewards ripen for 7 days. A banned account forfeits its Locked and earned balances to the pool.
  • Player bounties and wagers are held in escrow. Trades move both sides in one step.
  • Idle for 10 minutes shows a prompt; 15 minutes logs you out.
  • Mute, block and report (with the last 50 chat lines) are always available.
